Mrs Myers House
Cottage Features
Mrs Myers House is a restored timber slab cottage with two queen bedrooms downstairs and a loft with two single futon beds. A fireplace provides a cozy atmosphere on cool evenings. The fully-equipped kitchen features blue gum slab bench tops and a large gas oven and stove. Verandahs overlook the Clyde River and Prospect Hill, offering a peaceful setting for relaxation.
Building History
This authentic timber slab house was built over 130 years ago and is a unique piece of Brooman's rich timber heritage. The cottage showcases original, wide timber slabs, a testament to the craftsmanship of a bygone era.
Sleeping Configuration
- Bedroom 1: 1 x Queen Bed
- Bedroom 2: 1 x Queen Bed
- Loft: 2 x double Futon Beds
Off-Grid Living
The property is completely off-grid and powered by a central solar system with underground 240V power. Water is collected and stored in galvanised iron tanks, and an instantaneous gas water heater provides hot water.
Brooman Features
The old town site is located on a large bend in the Clyde River, which is great for canoeing, bass fishing, and platypus watching. The area is home to dozens of unique bird species, as well as a resident mob of Eastern Grey Kangaroos, Red-Necked Wallabies, Bandicoots, and Possums.
The buildings date back to the late 1800s and early 1900s, when they supported a thriving community of up to 200 people. Brooman once had a post office, school, dance hall, general store, and cottages for the sawmill workers and their families.
Linens and Towels
Please note that linen is not included, but it can be hired for an additional cost.
