Kurrajong House
Kurrajong House
Cottage Features
Kurrajong House is a beautifully restored three-bedroom timber worker's cottage perched on a hill, offering a serene escape separate from the other homes in the Old Saw Mill Town. The master bedroom features a luxurious king-sized bed and a cozy open fireplace. The two single bedrooms are perfect for small groups or families. For an added touch of luxury, unwind under the stars in your newly installed Baltic wood-fired hot tub. This traditional outdoor tub is heated by a separate wood fire, creating a deeply relaxing and authentic experience. The home includes an open-plan living, kitchen, and dining area, and a bathroom with a spacious shower, toilet, and vanity. A large verandah wraps around the home's northern and western sides, offering breathtaking views of the sunrise and sunset from an elevated vantage point.
Building History
This house is a beautifully restored timber worker's cottage, part of Brooman's Old Saw Mill Town. It is located up on the hill, separate from the other homes. It sits on a sprawling 2,750-acre farming property that borders the Clyde River.
Off-Grid Living
The property is completely off-grid and powered by a central solar system with underground 240V power. Water is collected and stored in galvanised iron tanks, and an instantaneous gas water heater provides hot water.
Brooman Features
The old town site is located on a large bend in the Clyde River, which is great for canoeing, bass fishing, and platypus watching. The area is home to dozens of unique bird species, as well as a resident mob of Eastern Grey Kangaroos, Red-Necked Wallabies, Bandicoots, and Possums.
The buildings date back to the late 1800s and early 1900s, when they supported a thriving community of up to 200 people. Brooman once had a post office, school, dance hall, general store, and cottages for the sawmill workers and their families.
Quality Linens and Towels
Fresh, soft linens and fluffy towels are provided for your comfort and luxury.
Please note: The hot tub is filled prior to your arrival upon request. To maintain cleanliness, we kindly ask that you use the provided showers before entering. Should you require the tub to be emptied, cleaned, and refilled during your stay, an additional charge will apply.
